LOCATION: Fort St. John, BC; Full-time
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of a recognized Post Secondary institution or college in the field of Chemistry or Environmental Sciences
- 1+ years of relevant environmental or contaminated sites experience (preferred but not required)
- Professional designation (i.e., P.Geo., P.Chem., or P.Ag.) or eligible to apply
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office
- Current Safety Tickets (preferred)
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residency
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
- Ability to coordinate project planning, logistics and preparation for field work
- Some experience working within applicable environmental regulations and guidelines, and associated industry practices within BC
- Knowledge of basic behaviors of different contaminants in the environment
- Strong commitment to client satisfaction
- Superior attention to detail and ability to produce professional deliverables on time
- Ability to manage time and priorities effectively
- Strong commitment to health and safety and excellent situational awareness
- Well organized and ability to maintain accurate and up to date field information
- Strong oral and written communication skills and technical report writing skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interface with staff and project managers to setup, execute, and report on environmental services related to upstream oil and gas facilities and regulatory requirements
- Assist with building and maintaining positive client relationship focused on providing top-quality service
- Assist with responding to occasional environmental emergencies (spills) at any time of day in a timely and urgent manner with appropriate field equipment
- Assist with arranging necessary permits and permissions to complete site remediation work
- Assist with sampling environmental media (soil, groundwater, vapour) for contaminants
- Assist with data analysis, technical report writing, and project coordination
- Undertake occasional assignments that may involve travel and periods of time away from home office
- Work well with a dynamic team of other environmental professionals
